Urethral Stricture treatment

Urethral Stricture treatment in Sangamner

What is Urethral Stricture?

The most important function of the male and female urethra is to urinate outside the body. This thin tube also plays an important role in male ejaculation. When swelling, injury, or scarring from an infection blocks or slows the flow of urine into this tube, it is called a urethral stricture. Some people feel pain due to urethral tension. Dr. Yogesh Torkadi is the best Urethral Stricture Doctor in Sangamner.

What happens under normal circumstances?

The bladder is drained from the urethra and from the body (called urination). The female urethra is much shorter than the male urethra. For men, urine should increase the distance from the bladder to the penis.
In men, the first 1 “2” of the urethra through which urine passes is called the posterior urethra. The posterior urethra includes:

  • Bladder neck (opening of the bladder)
  • Prostatic urethra (the part of the urethra next to the prostate)
  • the membranous urethra
  • A muscle called the external urethral sphincter.

The string that occurs in the first 1 “2” of the urethra through which urine flows is called posterior stenosis. In men, the last 9 “to 10” of the urethra is called the anterior urethra. The anterior urethra includes:

  • Bulbor urethra (under the scrotum and perineum, between the scrotum and anus)
  • Penile urethra (along the bottom of the penis)
  • Urinary meatus (exit at the tip of the penis)

Cause:

Because men have a long urethra, they are more likely to develop urethral illness or injury. For this reason, stenosis is common in men. It is rare in women and babies.

Stenosis (stenosis of the urethra) can occur anywhere from the bladder to the tip of the penis. This stenosis limits or slows the flow of urine. The common causes are:

  • Urethral trauma
  • Infectious diseases such as sexually transmitted diseases
  • Surgical instrument damage
  • Conditions that cause swelling

In most cases, no cause can be found. In adults, the urethral pull is usually caused by:

  • Injury due to falling scrotum or perineum
  • Prostate surgery
  • Removal of kidney stones
  • Urethral catheterization
  • Other surgical instruments

Symptoms:

Simply put, the urethra is like a garden hose. Twisting or constriction along the hose reduces flow, no matter how short or long. If the stenosis is sufficient to reduce urine flow, then there are symptoms. Problems with urination, urinary tract infections, swelling of the prostate and infections can occur. Severe obstruction that lasts for a long time can damage the kidneys.

Some signs are:

  • bloody or dark urine
  • blood in semen
  • slow or the decreased urine stream
  •  urine stream spraying
  • pain with urinating
  • abdominal pain
  • urethral leaking
  • UTIs in men
  • Swelling of the penis
  • loss of bladder control

Diagnosis:

There are several tests to determine if you have a urethral stricture including:

  • physical exam
  • urethral imaging (X-rays or ultrasound)
  • urethroscopy (to see the inside of the urethra)
  • retrograde urethrogram
